Architect: Danl Papl
The McQuillan/Clark Residence was built for Iowa-native Aloysius C. Clement, an insurance agent, and his wife Katherine Glab Clement. The couple married in Los Angeles only a few years earlier in 1907. Designed in the "Swiss Chalet" Craftsman style, one can see this inspiration in the proportions of the front-facing gable and in the design of the porch balustrade. Total estimated cost to build was $4,675. Assessor records indicate Katherine held the title from 1913 until 1921 when it was sold to Harry M. McCourt. The home's interior woodwork is all of redwood rather than the more common douglas fir, mahogany or oak.
